Jankowski Wins Vermont PGA Stroke Play Championship

Wednesday, September 5, 2018

After two days of play at Stowe Country Club, Dave Jankowski brings home the VT PGA Stroke Play Championship Trophy which now resides at Orleans Country Club until next year’s tournament.

As Wednesday’s round started to reach its eventual conclusion, Jankowski could see a possible win when he got to the final hole. “I knew that I needed to make par on eighteen, and I was able to sink an eight footer for par to win it. It came down to the last shot and Dave Bennett finished one shot behind me at one under par and I was fortunate enough to edge him out at two under par,” said Jankowski.

With the win, Dave gets a glass trophy to keep for himself, and the big trophy will get a plaque added to it with Dave’s name on it and will be on display at OCC.

On Thursday, August 23, 2018 the “early morning group” awarded Ray Giroux with a trophy for his “Double Roof” shot birdie on Hole #18 this season.

According to unnamed witnesses, the ball was hit with a hybrid club onto the roof over the ladies locker room, then bounced high in the air coming down on the porch roof facing the green, then rolling off onto the ground and ending up 4 feet from the hole for an easy putt. The trophy was presented by Cincinnati Ron.

The members of the early morning group are Charlie Killian, Mike Kelton, Walt Raymond, Don Putvain, Mark Hallam, Pat Clarke, Pete Bertoletti, Ray Giroux, Stephen Plume, Bob Fair, Cincinnati Ron and Darryle Mongeon.
