News from the VGA

Hello Everyone,

We have been receiving many questions about certain guidelines and restrictions and we would like to clarify them for everyone.

Only Vermont residents are allowed to play golf in Vermont, unless that individual has met the minimum 14-day quarantine requirement. Meaning that person has entered the state of Vermont and quarantined in the state for a minimum of 14 days.

Golfers must adhere to the limit of one person per cart, unless the two golfers share the same residence (spouses, siblings, room mates, etc…)

Please limit all gatherings to 10 people or less (practice range, putting greens, parking lot, etc…)

For guidelines and restrictions regarding retail and food and beverage please click here.

Adhering to the guidelines and restrictions of Phase 1 will go a long way to get to the next phase of golf.

Stay safe and healthy!

Kind regards,
VGA Staff

The VGA COVID-19 Guidelines for Safe Operations in Vermont

Notes from Josh Olney, PGA

Good news is we are prepared, with a few things in the works. Here is a quick summary.

  1. OCC is opening, Thursday, May 7th.
  2. Rental carts will be available, 1 rider per cart. The Pro Shop staff will be in charge of the disinfecting process, not the customer.
  3. If you have not purchased a membership, you will need to pay your dues or greens fees before play.
  4. Posting information is in the works and will be managed over the next several days.
  5. Tee times will be required and all payments will need to be over the phone or online per the requirements.  No one will be able to make a tee time unless you are a member or have paid on line, as the system will not allow it. Please be patient, as we are sure there are kinks to work out.
  6. The clubhouse and pro shop are closed with the exception of the bathrooms. Locker room accessibility is in discussion. Call the pro shop from parking lot.
  7. Drinks will be available for “to go” only.
  8. No food service at this time.
  9. Contact Us:     Pro Shop phone (754-2333)     Bar phone (754-2497).
  10. As we have more information, it will be posted.
  11. All golf courses must adhere to the restrictions outlined by the state.
  12. Follow our e-blast and follow us on Facebook.

Thanks,

Josh Olney, PGA

News from the VGA

The VGA, VTPGA our lobbyist, New Hampshire Golf Association, Maine Golf Association, MASS Golf, along with all of their lobbyist have been diligently working together to coordinate our efforts to get golf on the list of allowed recreational activities like biking, hiking and jogging. We all feel the timing is right and it is appropriate to get the message in front of the officials who are empowered to make this decision. All of our lobbyists and even the governors themselves have expressed each state has to work with their neighboring state and collaborate on what is going to be best from a regional approach.

UPDATE as of April 29th 2020

The VGA in correlation with VTPGA, NEPGA and the Allied New England Golf Associations have submitted our proposal of how golf can be played safely in VT. It has been received and is in the hands of the Restart VT team members who are responsible for moving approved industry proposals on to the Governors Office. Even though we have been told it is in the cue, they are focusing on other industries at this time. Unfortunately we will have to be patient for at least one more week but with some of the other positive news coming from neighboring states we feel it is just a matter of time.

We are being told by our advisers, the administration wants to support a state wide plan centralized through the Vermont Golf Association and will not be open to review individual proposals from club owners, general managers or golfers. The VGA will be submitting an updated safe golf plan to the Task Force for all our members tomorrow for consideration to open as soon as possible. It would be very helpful and we are asking ALL you, PLEASE DO NOT SEND your individual proposals to the Governor’s Office at this time as it could bog down the momentum we established over the last few days. We will edit the submitted plan with the feedback from the Task Force so we can hopefully open real soon. We will update everyone as soon as information is available.

Please stay healthy and safe!
