News from the VGA
Hello Everyone, We have been receiving many questions about certain guidelines and restrictions and we would like to clarify them for everyone. Only Vermont residents are allowed to play golf in Vermont, unless that individual has met the minimum 14-day quarantine requirement. Meaning that person has entered the state of Vermont and quarantined in the state for a minimum of 14 days. Golfers must adhere to the limit of one person per cart, unless the two golfers share the same residence (spouses, siblings, room mates, etc…) Please limit all gatherings to 10 people or less (practice range, putting greens, parking lot, etc…) For guidelines and restrictions regarding retail and food and beverage please click here. Adhering to the guidelines and restrictions of Phase 1 will go a long way to get to the next phase of golf. Stay safe and healthy! Kind regards, |

The VGA, VTPGA our lobbyist, New Hampshire Golf Association, Maine Golf Association, MASS Golf, along with all of their lobbyist have been diligently working together to coordinate our efforts to get golf on the list of allowed recreational activities like biking, hiking and jogging. We all feel the timing is right and it is appropriate to get the message in front of the officials who are empowered to make this decision. All of our lobbyists and even the governors themselves have expressed each state has to work with their neighboring state and collaborate on what is going to be best from a regional approach.
UPDATE as of April 29th 2020
The VGA in correlation with VTPGA, NEPGA and the Allied New England Golf Associations have submitted our proposal of how golf can be played safely in VT. It has been received and is in the hands of the Restart VT team members who are responsible for moving approved industry proposals on to the Governors Office. Even though we have been told it is in the cue, they are focusing on other industries at this time. Unfortunately we will have to be patient for at least one more week but with some of the other positive news coming from neighboring states we feel it is just a matter of time.
We are being told by our advisers, the administration wants to support a state wide plan centralized through the Vermont Golf Association and will not be open to review individual proposals from club owners, general managers or golfers. The VGA will be submitting an updated safe golf plan to the Task Force for all our members tomorrow for consideration to open as soon as possible. It would be very helpful and we are asking ALL you, PLEASE DO NOT SEND your individual proposals to the Governor’s Office at this time as it could bog down the momentum we established over the last few days. We will edit the submitted plan with the feedback from the Task Force so we can hopefully open real soon. We will update everyone as soon as information is available.
Please stay healthy and safe!

FROM THE WCAX WEATHER DESK:
Friday has another rain-making system coming through. The rain may be heavy at times late Friday into early Saturday. That system will move off to the east, and we’ll gradually clear the skies out late on Saturday. To round out the weekend, Sunday will be just the reverse of Saturday . . . it will start out with some sunshine, but then cloud up with showers showing up late in the afternoon.
Inside clean-up can still be done rain or shine. For inside help, bring a bucket, rags and cleaning supplies. For outside help, bring a rake. Lunch provided.
